Esther Grammen is a prisoner at the Besserail Correctional Facility. She is to be hallowed to The Wirebitten Child.[1]
Paige and Dennis Duplass visit Esther and give her a copy of the First Book of the Spoiling Craw. Esther initially refuses their offer, but takes the book with her.[1]
Esther is told that there has been a change of plans by the Chaplain. She is to be hallowed for the war effort with the Peninsula instead. Esther rereads the hymn before announcing she is ready to go.[1]
Esther turns into a Saint and the Many Below is dubbed the Tree of Spite. Several prison personnel were impaled on the branches of the tree-saint and killed.[2]
